If You Have Lungs... Imagine going to bed feeling great and the next morning you are told you have one of the over 50 forms of cancer of the lungs. Well, that is the diagnosis Diane Colton founder of Unmasking the Reality of Lung Cancer Society heard. In truth, lung cancer is not a "smoker's" cancer.

If you have lungs you can get lung cancer. No one is exempt from the possibility! Unmasking the Reality of Lung Cancer is working to help change that. And there is so much we can do so you or someone you know does not hear those words.

There are so many things we all want to be #1 of; cancer is not one.

Lung cancer also has too many unwanted #1 positions.

#1 in the number of women who die from it annually: No cancer is acceptable and the world has gone so far in the fight against breast cancer. In Canada while still a wholly unacceptable number of 5,000 women dying annually from breast over 10,000 women die annually from lung cancer

#1 in the number of people who die from it annually: There are over 100 types of cancer. Lung cancer accounts for 24% of ALL cancer deaths with over 21,000 losing their battle every year. #1 least funded: With the above statistics you would think funding would be a no- brainer but Lung cancer research and programs receive less than 6% of all funding!

There are more #1 but!

As long as she has the ability Diane will continue to help people understand the reality of lung cancer. Every year in Canada lung cancer impacts over 300,000 people! It is not just those who are diagnosed but everyone who is connected to them and whose lives they touch.
