Tropical Flowering Tree Society
The Tropical Flowering Tree Society (TFTS) www.tfts.org was formed in 1988 as a registered nonprofit by a handful of enthusiasts interested in promoting, propagating and preserving tropical flowering trees. The Society meets at 7:00 PM on the second Monday of the month, except May, July and August. Meetings are held at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road, Miami, Florida, (park at the old South Entrance) and are free and open to the public. Meetings feature a bloom table, presentations by horticultural experts, and conclude with an auction of tropical flowering trees, shrubs and vines. For members special events and picnics are also held. Each June TFTS proudly presents the annual installment of the Royal Poinciana Fiesta the oldest continuing festival in Miami-Dade County, The Royal Poinciana Fiesta with events and scholarships awards.
