Theatre Centre
Theatre Centre is a national touring theatre company making bold, relevant work with and for young people in schools, theatres, communities and online. We commission new writing from trailblazing writers, tour into schools and theatres UK-wide, as well as running a year-round Future Makers programme to bring young people, artists, and teachers together as creative collaborators.
Our vision is that young people are empowered through theatre to use their voices and ideas to make change in the world around them. We make space for young people to have agency and control as they nurture their talent and interests on their own terms. We also have a strong community of teachers, providing access to professional artists as peers and collaborators and advocating for the power of creative approaches in education.
We see access, equality and representation as foundations of a fair society and work to dismantle exclusion and systemic injustice. We prioritise areas that are systemically underserved and excluded, removing economic and social barriers, and working where young people can benefit most. We celebrate the true creative diversity only the widest access can bring.
We have a specialist place in the theatre ecosystem: a new writing company acting as a connector and enabler, linking young people, schools, teachers, artists and communities. Founded by Brian Way & Margaret Faulks in 1953 we have been a vital catalyst for youth leadership and creativity ever since. Next year we will celebrate 70 years of working with young people to change lives.
We are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, ITC Ethical Manager, an active member of Stage Sight, a Living Wage Employer, and a Disability Confident Employer.
