The Smarter Factory Technology Gateway (SF TG)

The Smarter Factory was established to provide support to Irish based manufacturers through research projects and industry focused training. In addition, the SF TG had received funding to establish a Digital Hub to reduce the cost of company's procuring this equipment and hiring associated staff. The SF TG has installed DCS software, automation equipment (PLC's/SCADA/motor controllers), robotics, vision systems and IOT/Edge devices to provide researchers and Irish manufacturers with access to the latest technologies.

In addition to conducting research projects that improves a company's operations, plans include providing standard industry training & custom training (systems above networked to simulate more closely to live production environments). We are also gauging if there is a need for companies to test automation/DCS systems offsite (in the Digital Hub) which improves their operations and employees training/understanding of systems, potentially with SF TG researchers assistance.
