Office of Public Instruction, Special Education

The Office of Public Instruction Special Education Unit is responsible for overseeing and implementing special education services for students with disabilities. This unit ensures that students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). They also work to improve outcomes for these students and their families. The Office of Public Instruction Special Education Unit offers special education-related technical support and professional development to LEAs and other groups or agencies to enhance comprehension of IDEA mandates and tactics leading to better results for students.
