KELD HOVE
Keld Hove, a retired Santa Barbara police officer. During his 25 year law enforcement career Keld specialized in working with people experiencing acute trauma-induced distress. As a Hostage Negotiator he honed those skills countless times when people's trauma overwhelmed their normal coping abilities by providing excellent support and applicable resources to efficiently and quickly stabilize them, safely.
Keld started and oversaw the Santa Barbara Police Department's Progressive Restorative Policing Program and was in charge of the Restorative Court Diversion Program for many years. In that role he worked with the homeless populations and the mentally ill, as well as other populations in need of his unique leadership style which demonstrated his ability to quickly recognize and identify the issues at hand, and the most beneficial solutions.
The Restorative Court program was attractive to many other law enforcement agencies and courts. Keld was often requested to give presentations to other departments and universities, such as Stanford and national conferences.
As an instructor, Keld has an amazing gift of captivating his audiences with his skilled educational approach by using his own personal experiences and relevant demonstrations to explore many aspects of trauma intervention tactics which can be used in many circumstances.
