andar de baixo

andar de baixo is an independent space that brings together a studio and an exhibition area, run by the artist Marta Pombo in the Penha de França neighborhood, Lisbon. It is a place born from a literal and symbolic shift: the transplant of her domestic studio, previously located in her home, into this new context, which opens the intimacy of making to the public. The presented projects maintain an emotional connection with her own practice and navigate questions related to the body, gesture, memory, domesticity, and the collection and recontextualization.
