NCSU Navarasa
We are NCSU Navarasa, an intercollegiate Indian Classical dance competition based in North Carolina State University. We are dedicated to raising awareness for the Indian classical dance art form and its beauty. The Indian classical dance art form is over 1000 years old, but due to the exponential interest in modernization, there has been a steady decline in the presence of this ancient traditional art form in the community. The goal of Navarasa is to revive this art form in the form of a competition and provide a platform for the best teams across the nation to share their story through dance that is still relatable to the people of the generation, thus bridging the gap between the ancient art and the modern world.
Hosting this annual competition at NCSU's university campus helps to spread cultural awareness amongst the community. Universities strive to promote diversity and inclusivity and so our aim is to aid in this pursuit by bringing all the students under one roof, sharing our traditional culture in the form of classical dance and providing a wholesome exposure of our culture to every single person. While we work on bringing awareness to our community, it is also important to give back and serve the world that we live in any way possible. Through Navarasa, all the profits we make is utilized for empowering children across the US and India.
