How to troubleshoot problems with SEPA direct debit payments

If a SEPA Direct Debit payment fails, both ticket-buyer and organizer will receive an email notification. The ticket will be canceled and released back into the event's inventory for sale. Most SEPA Direct Debit purchases fail if there aren't enough funds in the buyer's account, but there are a few other reasons this could be happening. 1. Check your email inbox for a message from Eventbrite.

When SEPA Direct Debit payments fail, we'll send a message to the ticket-buyer's email with an explanation about why the payment failed and recommended next steps. If you can't find the email, check your Spam folder and any alternate email addresses you may have used.

2. Check your account balance.

It can take up to 6 business days for your bank account to be charged, depending on which country you opened your account in. Ensure you have enough funds in your account before and after you register to avoid a failed transaction.

3. Check your bank details.

Double-check that you entered the correct IBAN without spaces and that you've entered the right bank account holder name.

PRO TIP: If you're unsure, check your online banking or contact your bank directly to verify you have the correct bank details.

4. Contact your bank.

If you’re sure you have sufficient funds and used the correct IBAN, contact your bank to find out more about why the transaction failed.

NOTE: If you opened your bank account in Germany, Austria, or Spain, a successful transaction will clear within 2 business days. For accounts in other countries accepting SEPA Direct Debit, the transaction will clear within 6 business days.
