Understanding U.S. tax exemptions

If you’re a U.S. organizer exempt from federal, state, county, and/or local sales tax, you may qualify to have sales tax waived in jurisdictions where Eventbrite collects and remits tax. If you’re not sure whether you qualify to have sales tax waived, we encourage you to consult a tax professional to better understand your tax obligations. Eventbrite can’t give you tax advice.

Where Eventbrite collects tax on Ticketing Fees

IMPORTANT: In compliance with US tax laws, Eventbrite no longer collects Tax on Ticketing Fees for US events created after November 15, 2023. Learn more about Eventbrite’s tax collection in the US.

When you set up your event, you’ll have to answer a couple brief questions in Tax Settings. Tax won’t be charged to you or the attendee if you meet the exemptions of your event location. For detailed information, check out where Eventbrite collects tax on ticket sales:

TIP: If your event is in a jurisdiction not listed above, Eventbrite does not collect and remit in that jurisdiction so you do not need to send us any documentation.
