Quebec Sales Tax (QST)
If you meet certain requirements, Eventbrite is required to collect and remit Quebec Sales Tax (‘QST’) on the total amount you charge to your attendee (‘buyer total’) for all events located in Quebec. To determine tax collection on your events, go to “Tax” (under “Payments & Tax”) and complete your tax settings.

— Collecting Quebec QST on the buyer total
When you host events in Quebec, Eventbrite is required to collect QST at a rate of 9.98% on the buyer total. However, Eventbrite won’t collect QST if either applies:
You provide us with a valid QST identification number and/or have a permanent establishment in Quebec or
You are not registered for QST and have no permanent establishment in Quebec but your attendees provide us with a valid QST identification number and/or their usual place of residence is outside of Quebec.
— Complete your tax settings
Go to Manage my events and select your event. Then, click Tax (under Payments & Tax) and choose from the following options:
Yes, I have a permanent establishment in Quebec and I have a QST number: enter your valid QST identification number. If your event is located in Quebec and your payout country is Canada, complete your tax settings.
No, I have a permanent establishment in Quebec, but I don’t have a QST number: Eventbrite will not calculate, collect, or remit QST on the sales from this event.
No, I do not have a permanent establishment in Quebec, but I have a QST number: enter your valid QST identification number. If your event is located in Quebec and your payout country is Canada, complete your tax settings.
No, I do not have a permanent establishment in Quebec and I don’t have a QST number:
depending on your attendees’ status, Eventbrite may calculate, collect, and remit QST on the sales from this event.
If you have a QST number, you must enter the complete 16-character QST identification number.
NOTE: You’ll need to complete your tax settings for each individual event you host.
— Collecting tax information from your attendees
If you do not have a permanent establishment in Quebec and are not registered for QST, Eventbrite will require your attendees to provide their postal code and QST identification number (if applicable).
— How QST affects your payouts
Based on the option you select in your tax settings, collected QST may impact your payout.
If Eventbrite is required to collect and remit QST: you won’t be able to absorb QST. Instead, QST is automatically paid by your attendees. Your payout will not be impacted.
If Eventbrite is not required to collect and remit QST: choose to pass the QST onto your attendees or absorb it. If you absorb the QST, it won’t be paid by your attendee and will reduce your payout.
