About this event
Exploring landscape through a collage technique of décollage*, you are invited to create a three dimensional collage using the magazine as an object to explore as a literal sculptural form. The abstract landscape could reflect your own relationship to a significant place/location, but it can also spontaniously appear from the source material you are given. All materials and contextual information surrounding contemporary collage is provided.
Workshop will be held in English, with Portuguese translation avaliable if required
*Décollage, in art, is the opposite of collage; instead of an image being built up of all or parts of existing images, it is created by cutting, tearing away or otherwise removing, pieces of an original image. ( Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Décollage )

Nina’s practice is multidisciplinary, exploring human interaction and relationship with the environment, in particular the dimension between personal and collective landscape and how these mutate through times of disruption and chaos. Individual exhibitions include: "Home", Espaço Cultural Mercês, Lisbon, Portugal (2021); "TAXIS DERMA", Museum of Natural Science and History, Lisbon, Portugal (2019); and "Sublime", Mute Gallery, Lisbon, Portugal (2019). Nina’s collages have been published in magazines and books, including, most recently “Collage Care: Transforming Emotions & Life Experiences” edited by Kanyer Art Collection, 2021. Nina’s work is represented in the public and private collections worldwide. She lives in Portugal, and works as artistic coordinator of Art & Craft Refúgio - a project integrating migrants and refugees in central Lisbon, with sponsorship from the Gulbenkian PARTIS & Art For Change fund.
Collage Working Club (CWC) is a weekly open workspace for artists working in the medium of paper. Organised in the format of alternate ‘drop in’ sessions and workshops masterclasses, it has both a regular facilitator whilst also involving the artist community in the sharing of knowledge and skills. Providing materials, education and connections is the primary aim of CWC, and it will do this through the interdisciplinary art of collage as both an art form and a tool for personal growth.
The group occupies a physical space at Largo Residências, working within the workshop space of Residências Refúgio, a cultural and social project in Arroios, Lisbon.
