About this event
This second cycle will discuss the thematic of Carbon Sequestration.
GHG emissions are an increasingly urgent problem worldwide, being agriculture one of the activities with higher GHG production. For so, it is necessary to develop solutions to cut GHG emissions, and carbon sequestration seems to be the way. Carbon can be found trapped in soil due to organic matter, plant residues, and manure there to be found. Farmers can achieve carbon storage by biological sequestration, which uses the characteristics of plants to capture emissions. This can be achieved by modifications in tillage practices and crop rotations. Nevertheless, the process of verification that carbon was effectively sequestered in the soil is complex and digital platforms can be a helpful tool for this monitorization.
