At Switch, we believe open-source projects keep the internet humming. This October, join us for a two-day-long hackathon in our Porto office and contribute to open source Hacktoberfest repositories.

Join in solo or bring your team and get a chance to win a weekend trip to Munich, Germany!

Switch Hackathons are open to everyone. Students are encouraged to join in, team up with our engineers, learn and share their knowledge about tech.

Hacktoberfest is a month-long global celebration of open source software run by DigitalOcean in partnership with Intel, AppWrite, and DeepSource, with a strong focus on encouraging contributions to open source projects.

12:00 - 13:00 | Switch Talks: Micro Services and Data Lakes at Switch

João Bandeira, head of product at Switch, explores the concepts and state of the art of micro-services and data lakes, how we make use of them at Switch, and the lessons learned building our payments platform

13:00 - 23:00 | Hackathon

Join the competition. Solve issues in the topics suggested by our engineering team or explore Hacktoberfest repositories. Every contribution counts.

Registration. You can join the hackathon on your own or with a team. All team members must register. Teams can have up to three team members.

Competition. We will have a scoreboard throughout the two-day event. Only contributions made during the duration of the event count.

Prizes. The team or individual occupying the first spot on the scoreboard on Saturday, October 30th at 11:00 pm is the winner. The winner or winning team will be granted a weekend trip to Munich, Germany.

Logistics and equipment. Bring your own laptop. We can provide everything else. There will be food and drinks for everyone throughout the hackathon.

COVID-19. Bring a mask. Follow health and safety guidelines regarding COVID-19 during the event.
