Sovereign Art Foundation presents a Free children’s textile workshop exploring creative reuse and sustainable fashion, part of ReWORN event.

An imaginative, hands-on textile workshop for children exploring creativity, reuse and sustainable fashion.

As part of ReWORN: Fashion with a Future, this special one-hour workshop invites children to experiment with recycled fabrics, colour and texture while learning how clothing can be repaired, reimagined and transformed.

Led by multidisciplinary artist Sharker Nasrin, the session introduces young participants to visible mending, creative upcycling and playful textile techniques. Children will create wearable accessories or fun textile objects using recycled materials, fabric paint and simple hand techniques.

The workshop is designed to build confidence, spark imagination and introduce sustainability in an accessible, creative way.

• Free to attend, but registration is required
• Suitable for children (recommended ages 7–14)
• Children must be accompanied by an adult
• All materials are provided
• The workshop will take place in English

About the Artist

Sharker Nasrin is a Lisbon-based multidisciplinary artist, educator and maker working across sculpture, performance, installation and textile practices. She has led workshops internationally and works extensively in community-based arts education.

Her practice combines handcraft, sustainability and visual storytelling, making this workshop both playful and meaningful.

Dona Ajuda is a cultural and environmental initiative housed in the former Mercado do Rato. The space hosts community events, workshops and exhibitions that celebrate sustainability, collaboration and inclusive creativity.

3:30pm – Panel Discussion on sustainability in fashion
4:30pm – Curated Fashion Show featuring second-hand styling
5:00pm – Informal networking
