September by the Sea: Women’s Writing & Publishing Retreat

A rare opportunity for 16 prolife feminist / womanist writers (new and established) to publish their book, eat nourishing organic food and recharge by the spectacular Portuguese sea! Attendance at the retreat comes with a full publishing contract for your full-length book of poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction. While the cohorts are open to prolife women, the work does not have to represent any religious or political affiliation – we are particularly interested in contemporary fiction, poetry, trade fiction (women’s literature, romance, etc.), literary fiction, memoir, genre writing (historical, mystery and science-fiction).

We are a mother and daughter publishing company focusing life-affirming voices, and we’re excited to open our 2026 publishing list to 16 prolife womanist / feminist writers – both new and established. Attendance at the retreat comes with a full publishing contract for your full-length book of poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction. While the retreat is centering life affirming voices, the work does not have to represent any religious or political affiliation – we are particularly interested in contemporary fiction, trade fiction (women’s literature, romance etc.), literary fiction, memoir, genre writing (historical, mystery, science-fiction) and poetry.

As members of the Independent Book Publishers Association, your contract with Femficātiō Publishing comes with developmental editing, editorial support, royalties and one-on-one support, as well as industry leading copy editing, cover design, literary reviews and marketing.

We’re keeping our circles small — just eight women per session.

As this retreat includes a publishing contract, we want to make sure it's the right fit for you and your work. You’re invited to book a free 15-minute project call to discuss your manuscript - even if you're in the beginning stages with just a great idea; we invite you to review the contract details with us.

Once you’ve reserved your spot, we’ll schedule a private strategy and mentoring session to get acquainted and discuss the direction of your book prior to the retreat sessions in Portugal.

The Process:

The Intro Call: If you have questions about reserving your space, schedule a free call with us. We’ll chat about your work and walk you through the publishing contract.

Payments: A 15% reservation deposit is required to secure your stay, and places are limited. The remaining balance, less your reservation fee, must be paid in three installments, with all payments due by July 1, 2026.

We are currently running an early-bird special on the minimum deposit—reserve today and pay half on the deposit! Additionally, if you pay your remaining balance in full within seven days of booking, you will receive 10% off the total cost. That’s a savings of €400–€710 off the entire retreat!

3) The Prep: After your first payment, you’ll receive a one-on-one editorial consultation. We’ll map out your project’s direction so you can hit the ground running when you arrive at the retreat.
