Descrição do evento
If a picture is worth a thousand words is an image worth a thousand spectra? What if we combine the two and use spectra to construct images?

Acerca deste evento

The combination of spatial/temporal resolution of an image with the chemical information derived from spectroscopy promises the next level of massive information, capable of revealing unprecedented details on tissues, single cells, organelles and specific biomolecules. The Imaging in Biosciences event is an exciting opportunity for students and researchers interested in medical diagnosis, plant and microbial physiology and biochemistry as well as spectroscopy, to gain new insights into the potential applications of different bioimaging methods, their specificities and complementarities. This one-day event envisages lectures on the state of the art imaging techniques that include AFM, NMR, X-ray fluorescence, NIR, SER and Raman label-free Imaging.

The speakers are:

– Christian Huck (Innsbruck Univ., Austria) NIR;

– Noam Shemesh, (Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, Lisbon) NMR;

– Tatsuyuki Yamamoto (Shimane Univ., Japan) Raman label-free Imaging;

– Nuno Santos (IMM, Lisbon) AFM;

– Sylvain Bohic (ESRF/Inserm- French Institute of Health and Medical Research), X-ray Fluorescence Imaging;

– Dorleta Jimenez de Aberasturi, CIC biomaGUNE, SERS tags.

Target audience:

– Students and researchers interested in medical diagnosis, plant and microbial physiology and biochemistry, and spectroscopy.

It will take place at ITQB-NOVA (Oeiras) on the 11th May 2019.
