Rebuild by KAMPUS - One day pop-up exhibition
Overview
REBUILD by KAMPUS
Bio (b.1989) KAMPUS is a Brazilian-Portuguese contemporary artist based in Costa de Caparica, Portugal whose works portray rare characters and absurd elements in vivid colors. Using a combination of spray paint, airbrush, acrylic and ceramic sculptures he creates a visual language that is vibrant, rough and naive. After years of graffiti writing and a degree in Graphic Design, KAMPUS has painted murals in the streets of Brazil, Indonesia, the UK, and various European countries. He has exhibited solo in Portugal and Germany and his works were also presented in art fairs in Miami and London.
Show intro
After facing a series of lung issues, KAMPUS was advised to step away from his favorite tools — the airbrush and spray paint — and to work in a space with conditions better suited to his recovery. This new series began with drawings made during his hospital stay and later developed into paintings created at home.
The circumstances forced him to adapt, exploring new materials and techniques while recovering. The resulting body of work reveals a shift in aesthetic, still playful and familiar, but rougher, more direct, and charged with the tension of constraint and reinvention.
About the Space
Tucked within Bordalo II’s studio, the space holds a raw and unpolished energy, prior to an upcoming rebuild. It stands in a rare in-between moment, perfectly mirroring the evolving force behind KAMPUS’ new body of work.
