Is the event really free?

Yes! Admission is completely free, including all activities. However, because space on the trail is limited, pre-booking is mandatory.

Do I need a ticket for my child?

Yes. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, every person entering the trail (adults and children) must have a registered ticket.

Can I show up without a booking?

Accepted Answer

We cannot guarantee entry for walk-ins. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend booking your timeslot in advance.

Question 4

How long does the experience take?

Most families will spend about 2 hours exploring the "Path of Discovery" and participating in the various hands-on stations.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at the "Discovery Day" welcome desk at the start of your booked timeslot. If you are late, we will do our best to fit you in, but priority goes to those with current bookings.

When is the last entry?

The last entry to the trail is at 4:00 PM to allow everyone enough time to complete the circuit before we close at 5:00 PM.

Where exactly is the event?

The event is held at the University of Algarve (UAlg), Gambelas Campus, in the forested area. Once you enter the campus, simply follow the "Prehistory Discovery Day" signs to the starting point.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is free parking available inside the Gambelas Campus. Follow the signs upon arrival.

Question 9

Can I get there by public transport?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Local buses (Próximo) lines 17, 18, and 19 connect Faro city center to the Gambelas Campus regularly.

Question 10

Is the trail suitable for strollers or wheelchairs?

Accepted Answer

The "Path of Discovery" is a 1km trail through a natural forested area with uneven terrain and dirt paths. While we have tried to keep it accessible, it may be difficult for some strollers or manual wheelchairs. We recommend sturdy wheels or baby carriers for the best experience.

What should I wear?

This is an entirely outdoor event. We recommend closed-toe walking shoes, a hat, and comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little "prehistoric" (clay and pigments can be messy!).

Will there be food and water?

Accepted Answer

We recommend bringing a water bottle and snacks. There will be no facilities within the university to purchase food or water.

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but please keep your dogs on a lead.

What happens if it rains?

Accepted Answer

In the event of light rain, the discovery day will proceed. In the case of extreme weather, we will notify all ticket holders via email by 8:00 AM on the day of the event regarding any cancellations or rescheduling.
