How does a book club work?

Each month your host will a select a new book for your group to read. On the day and time of the meetup, hop over to Fable. Your host will have discussion topics based on the book, but feel free to bring your own thoughts too! The idea is to have fun, interesting conversations within community.

What Happened to You is a book that invites us to look at our lives through a new and more compassionate lens. Instead of asking what is wrong with us, the book encourages a different question: What happened to you? Through this shift, we begin to understand how our past experiences shape the way we think, feel, and react today.

Written by Oprah Winfrey together with brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry, the book explores how early life experiences influence our nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. It helps explain why certain patterns repeat in our lives and why some situations feel harder to manage than others. The book does this in a very human and accessible way, using real stories, science, and personal reflection.
