About this event

This is your opportunity to learn how to make authentic Pastéis de Nata, guided by a professional pastry chef, inside a genuine Portuguese bakery.

This masterclass can be hosted by award-winning chef João Batalha, co-founder of Pastel de Nata concept store Nat'elier, or other experienced in-house pastry chefs such as Silvia Sousa or Valeria Barros da Costa.

The workshop starts with an introduction to the history of Pastel de Nata. After you've geared up, you'll go inside a pro kitchen where you will learn how to bake the irresistible Portuguese Custard Tarts (aka Pastel de Nata / Egg Tarts) everybody loves!

Unlike other Pastel de Nata classes around Lisbon, we will show you how to make puff pastry from scratch. Afterwards, we will make the custard and bake it all inside a professional oven. During this class we all work together as a team. Everyone will get to make at least 3 tarts by hand - learn how to laminate the dough, spread it with a specific Pastel de Nata technique, fill in the custard, etc. The end result will be a delicious collaborative effort.

In the end, we'll eat the warm tarts Portuguese style, that is, with cup of coffee.

What's included?

- Pastry Class: all professional equipment and ingredients needed are provided

- Pastel de Nata tasting (3 tarts for you to eat as soon as they come out of the oven or to take home!)

- Beverages: water and drink of choice (hot beverages such as coffee or tea, or cold options like soft drinks)

You sure can! :) Our masterclasses can be adapted to all levels, from professionals, and amateur bakers, to people who are new to the kitchen, but keen on learning and having a deliciously fun time with us!
