Opening Night at Casa Palestina
Casa Palestina opens as the first Palestinian cultural house in Lisbon, a space dedicated to Palestinian culture and artistic expression.
Friday, March 27th | Lisbon
Created for the continuity of Palestinian culture across generations, Casa Palestina brings together artists, writers, educators, and community members to share ideas, knowledge, and creative endeavors.
The opening night will feature a special performance by the celebrated Palestinian artist Sanaa Moussa, widely regarded as one of the leading voices preserving and reinterpreting the musical heritage of Palestine. Through her work as a vocalist, composer, and researcher, she has dedicated her career to safeguarding Palestinian musical memory and bringing traditional repertoires to contemporary audiences.
The Casa stands in Alcântara, whose name derives from the Arabic al’qantara, meaning “the bridge.” In a city whose history still carries traces of the Arabic language, Casa Palestina becomes another place of meeting.
As the first Palestinian cultural house in Lisbon, Casa Palestina establishes a permanent place for Palestinian cultural life to be practiced, shared, and carried forward.
Here, art is encountered as a form of resistance, a way of bringing voices together across distance and displacement. Culture has transformed into more than expression; it is the means by which memory is defended, erasure is resisted, and what must endure is preserved. At its heart is a simple belief, art and culture are not separate from struggle; they are the lifeline through which people continue to imagine their future.
Throughout the evening, guests will explore the art exhibition, experience a special musical performance, and enjoy Palestinian bites prepared with care.
Join us as the doors of Casa Palestina open for the first time.
Dress Code: We will be inaugurating the house, so please dress for the occasion, with a touch of Palestinian flair.
