Curious why nature makes us feel so good, and what science tells us about it?
Join for an outdoor workshop exploring the current research in neuroscience, cognitive psychology and sensory science to dive into the one of the most underestimated tools for mental performance and wellbeing: nature.
Together we'll move through an intentionally designed experience that combines evidence-based science with hands-on gardening in the Goethe-Institut’s herb and vegetable garden. So you don't just learn about the effects of nature on your brain, but you feel them directly.
🔔 What we'll cover
- How your attention depletes throughout the day and the precise mechanisms through which nature restores it
- The physiological stress response, and why natural environments are one of the few reliable ways to reverse it
- What your senses are actually doing when you slow down in nature, and why multi-sensory engagement produces the strongest effect
- Hands-on gardening, because the research only makes sense when you feel it yourself
- Practical, evidence-based tools to integrate into your work and daily life
✏️ No science background needed, just bring curiosity and a notebook, and get ready to see the natural world (and your own mind) in a new way.
🧩 Includes: science-based content, gardening materials and seedlings (kindly supported by the Goethe-Institut), sensory activities, take-home practices.
💬 What other participants say
"Fascinating - and it's good to know the information is truthful and evidence-based."
"Loved learning all about the theories and being able to do it ourselves afterwards."
🔎 About the host
Hi, I’m Marion, a neuroscientist (PhD) and founder of The Plant Wisdom Project.
Through my research on brain plasticity and passion for gardening, I became fascinated by how we can shape our environment for positive change, especially through nature.
I love creating spaces where people can slow down, learn, and connect with nature and each other. Experiencing how tending to plants builds mental clarity, calm and resilience.
