Alfredo Gago Rosa's journey began with a desire to invest in the extraordinary, and he embarked on his mission with a singular focus: crafting a remarkable abode for his cherished family. This exceptional house, pulsating with American influences and a tropical flair, stood as a testament to his innovative spirit, setting it apart from anything Faro had ever seen before.
At the age of just 34, the talented architect, Manuel Gomes Da Costa, was entrusted with this audacious project, despite his limited experience. Little did anyone know that this endeavor would become one of Faro's most iconic buildings, a beacon of architectural excellence and an enduring legacy of Gago Rosa's vision.
Led by architect Victor Hugo Faustino, who completed his Master Degree and his specilist of architect Gomes da Costa, the tour offers unique insights into the architect’s professional achievements as well as glimpses into his personal habits and way of life. About your guide :
Victor Hugo Faustino holds a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Évora and a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of the Algarve. Over the past 12 years, he has worked on projects in Portugal, Kuwait, and Spain, focusing on sustainable design solutions. His acclaimed master’s thesis, “Manuel Gomes da Costa and Modern Architecture in Faro”, explored the architect’s life and work, shedding light on a key chapter of Algarve’s modernist heritage. Based in the Netherlands, Victor Hugo is a Senior Technical Architect at an urban planning and landscape architecture office in Rotterdam, contributing to projects across Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
