GLEX Summit – What's Next? Discoveries from the Edge
The Global Exploration Summit (GLEX Summit) brings together the world’s leading explorers sharing the latest advancements in oceans, land, space, and conservation.
This year, The Explorers Club and Expanding World unite the great explorers and space pioneers of our time in a three-day event on Terceira island (Azores, Portugal), from June 14-16. Our explorers are bringing back discoveries from the edge - on return from cutting-edge expeditions with their latest findings and divulging plans for upcoming missions that will change the world.
We have announced the first panellists which include archaeologist and diplomat Kathleen Martinez-Nazar, astrobiologist Nathalie Cabrol, marine biologist Nathan J. Robinson, planetary scientist Nina Lanza, and conservationist Alejandro Arteaga.
*Explorers Club members have free access, applied on the TEC Member ACCESS pass.
What's new in the fourth edition?
This year you can purchase GLEX Explorer or GLEX Plus, two different passes to access the lectures and other social and networking events. GLEX Explorer gives access to all sessions at the Congress Centre, coffee breaks, and includes a GLEX gift bag and participation certificate. GLEX Plus grants access to all sessions at the Congress Centre, masterclass, coffee breaks, networking lunches on June 14 and 15, after party on June16, access to all sessions via VOD during 3 months after the event, and includes a GLEX gift bag, an official cap and a participation certificate.
The “Space, Ocean and Earth Insights” (SOE’23) is hosted by GLEX Summit, organized by INESC TEC - Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science, and co-organized by the UT Austin Portugal Program, the TEC4SEA Infrastructure, the Institute for Astronautical Sciences and Space For All Nations, unveiling new perspectives and key insights of the latest scientific projects that will propel the discussion on the future of exploration.
University students, researchers and professors have a 50% discount, applied on the GLEX ACADEMIC pass. Please bear in mind that you will have to present a proof of your academic status at the entrance.
In this year's edition we will have a masterclass for intrepid adventurers who wish to explore tools to better navigate solo missions, remote locations, and extreme environments. This masterclass is included on the GLEX Plus pass.

About the organizers:
The GLEX summit is organized by The Explorers Club of New York and Expanding World.
GLEX Summit is certified to ISO 20121 standards for sustainable management of events. The eco-responsible event preserves the pledge signed in the first edition with the Lisbon Declaration, where the club’s members and international officials committed to an effort to inspire the world to protect our planet, animal species and natural resources, and accelerate the sharing of scientific knowledge.
About the host city:
Angra do Heroísmo is on Terceira, one of the nine islands of the Azores archipelago that seats in the North Atlantic ocean. The fortified island, first settled in 1450, is an historic landmark for Portugal, where maritime fleets on transatlantic trade routes stopped between the 16th and 18th centuries.
Angra do Heroísmo is the oldest city of the Azores and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. Between the charming architecture of the ancient city and the breath-taking trails that circle the natural attractions of the volcanic island, there is a lot to explore.
