Creative Writing Workshop: Poetry

What to expect from this workshop?
Join us for a friendly, two-hour poetry workshop for beginners, writers looking to improve their craft, and curious returners, including those who’ve never shared their works. We’ll explore what poetry is (and isn’t), what makes a poem resonate, and simple dos and don’ts to elevate your writing.

Expect accessible readings, practical craft tips, and guided prompts, with supportive space to draft and share. Bring your favourite tool(s) to take notes, two poems you love (ideally one of yours and one by another poet), and an open mind.

About your hosts:
Giacomo Boffi is a Lisbon-based poet and founder of Home of Poetry (HOP), a platform for international poetry. For him, poetry is far more than writing. His vision is to promote poetry as a tool for connection and belonging. Giacomo organises workshops, hosts events, and supports poets in their writing journey.

His work connects personal episodes to universal paths, exploring themes such as belonging and society, memory and time, the body and eros, faith and doubt. Blending lyric clarity with a documentarian gaze, his poems move between page and performance to seek meaning, mercy, and tenderness.

His work has appeared in Sunday Mornings at the River, Word Up Pages, and Only Poems, among others; he has read at Body Electric, LovingroomConcerts, Ten Art Club, Shoki, and other poetry events in Europe.

Kit Tamblyn is a Lisbon-based poet, teacher and writer, and a co-founder of Queer Poets Lisbon. His work centres on queer history, love and periods of transition, and about the importance of language and knowing your roots. He writes for both page and performance. In the past, Kit has run poetry workshops across the UK and has performed at the London Feminist Conference as well as at slams all over the country.

He was the winner of the English Heritage poetry prize, the Oxford Kafka creative writing prize and a Portico Young Laureate. He is currently working on his first novel.
