Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring how seaweed and oyster shells can be transformed into a natural, biodegradable clay. In this 2-hour session, you’ll learn how these marine-sourced ingredients are processed and shaped into small bio-ceramic pieces, offering a practical introduction to sustainable material-making.
You’ll discover how oyster shells, known for filtering up to 200 liters of water per day and seaweed, can become regenerative resources that support circular design and low-impact craft.
What you’ll Learn:
- Introduction to marine-based biomaterials
- How oyster shells are cleaned, ground, and prepared
- How seaweed is used as a natural binder
- Mixing, shaping, and forming your own bio-ceramic piece
- Drying and finishing techniques
You’ll leave with your own handmade bio-ceramic object and the basic skills to continue exploring biomaterials at home - a meaningful and eco-friendly Christmas gift.
This workshop is part of the Siren Sister project, in collaboration with Fahrenheit 180º, dedicated to exploring sustainable design through ocean-inspired materials and practices.
Ticket sales are managed by the instructors, and proceeds go directly to them.
