Ale D’Afrique is a Lisbon-based visual artist of Angolan descent. Working primarily with charcoal, ink, and dry pastel, his practice explores memory, family, and identity. Focusing on how the spaces we grow up in shape who we become. His work often centers on intimate, figurative scenes that hold tension between closeness and distance, presence and silence.
Drawing from oral storytelling traditions, his images function as fragments of lived experience rather than fixed narratives. Through layered textures and open-ended compositions, he creates space for reflection on belonging, inheritance, and the emotional weight carried within family structures. His recent work extends into performance and multimedia, continuing his interest in how these stories can be shared and experienced beyond the image.
