International conference dedicated to the way we build and how it impacts our climate, focused  on materials, techniques and design.

In the second edition of build- from High to Low tech, we will bring new names to the panels, that will enrich the already gathered knowledge on the previous edition. As it already happened in 2022, the event will allow the viewers to learn from world renowned designers and learn how high-quality architecture can mitigate the impacts of climate change and deal with the industry evolution.In addition to the panels, this second edition will also count with showcases of materials and manufacturers related with the thematics of sustainability. This way, we intend to bring architects closer to the solutions.

W﻿orkshopsW﻿orkshop 01 - Immersive Imperfection - September 13th-14thImmersive Imperfection workshop by Prof. Christian Schmitt and Dr. Federico Garrido. A two day workshop that will start with a design workshop and learning on site how to make adobe bricks while getting your hands dirty working with the material. In the second day you will get to build with the help of Mixed reality equipment, a small structure designed by the workshop team on the first day.Eligibility:O﻿pen to students of architecture and architects. Each participant must have a laptop with Rhino / Sketchup.20 places available.Take note that you should wear comfortable clothes as it&#x27;s expected to work hands on with the material. The workshop attendance will also grant you access to:- Full conference experience- Materials Exhibition- Round Tables- Paulo Mendes da Rocha Exhibition- One copy of the book &quot;Build: from high to low tech&quot;W﻿orkshop 02 - Hempcrete Workshop - September 13th 10h00/16h00 - September 14th 10h00A two day workshop that will start with learning how to do a hempcrete mixture and get your hands dirty while working with the material under the guidance of César Cardoso of Natura Matéria. In the second day you will get to build a small structure designed by the Italian office Park Associati.Eligibility:O﻿pen to students of architecture, architects and others. 15 places available.Take note that you should wear comfortable clothes as it&#x27;s expected to work hands on with the material. The workshop attendance will also grant you access to:- Full conference experience- Materials Exhibition- Round Tables- Paulo Mendes da Rocha Exhibition- One copy of the book &quot;A Cal na Construção&quot;- One copy of the book &quot;Build: from high to low tech&quot;W﻿orkshop 03 - Installation of green roof with cork - GUL System - September 14thA one day workshop under the guidance of Ana Mesquita from LANDLAB where you will learn step by step what it takes to build a green roof with the GUL system, while assembling a mock-up, understanding which layers are needed and their function.G﻿UL - Green Urban Living - it&#x27;s a multifunctional system based on expanded cork agglomerates for green roof construction. This system has a superior environmental and energetic performance than standard solutions and also a high capacity of energetic and fabrication customization. It&#x27;s a biomaterial that stores carbon during it&#x27;s manufacturing process, resulting in a carbon negative footprint. The GUL slab is at the same time a thermal and energetic insulation as well as water drainage and retainer enhancer. These agglomerates are produced from industry by-products, promoting a circular economy.
