Saturday, Apr 18 from 3 pm to 7 pm
Overview

Discover how to transform natural, bio-based materials into beautiful wearable pieces.

BioJewels – Jewelry Making with Bio-Based Materials 4-hour workshop · BioLab Lisboa · April 18th, 15:00–19:00

Discover how to transform natural, bio-based materials into beautiful wearable pieces. In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore colour, texture and form while creating small translucent elements, textured composites and unique artistic jewels.

No experience needed — just curiosity and a love for making.

What you'll make

Each participant will leave with a small collection of unique, bio-based jewelry pieces — pendants, earrings or small sculptural amulets — made from custom biomaterial recipes, plus material samples to continue experimenting at home.

What you'll learn

✔ How bio-based materials work and their creative potential
✔ How to prepare simple bio-based mixtures and composites
✔ Colouring, texturing and patterning with natural elements
✔ Shaping, cutting, sanding and refining small components
✔ Assembling finished wearable pieces

Workshop structure

  1. Introduction to bio-based materials — properties, examples, creative applications
  2. Preparation of a basic bio-based mixture
  3. Exploring texture, opacity and colour
  4. Creating small sheets, moulded forms or composites
  5. Drying, refining and finishing (cutting, sanding, piercing)
  6. Assembling finished jewelry pieces
  7. Documentation of final work

Who is this for?

Artists, designers, students, makers, and anyone curious about sustainable materials and experimental craft. No prior experience required.

Group size: up to 10 participants

Facilitator

Carlotta Premazzi — multimedia artist and designer working with bio-based materials, interactive media and experimental making practices.
