About Our Hosts:
Casa Vicent opened its doors in 1905, originally under the management of renowned Portuguese goldsmiths Miranda & Filhos, with offices in Lisbon and Porto. From the beginning, this building stood out for its grandiose architecture, reflecting the Art Nouveau style, which marked the urban landscape of Porto. The façade, composed of gilded cast iron and elaborate plant motifs, was commissioned from Companhia Aliança, a prestigious local company founded by Baron de Massarelos.
Over time, the property was acquired by a Spanish merchant, Vicent, who left his name engraved on the façade. This change occurred at a time when the street where Casa Vicent is located was becoming one of the most important commercial arteries in the city. Inside, the care taken to maintain the original details, such as the stucco ceilings, elegant lamps and wooden floors, is noteworthy. An interesting detail is the enormous safe, still in working order, which was protected with a steel plate between the floors to ensure greater security.
The space continues to preserve this cultural and historical legacy, being a place where past and present meet. More than a bar, Casa Vicent offers a unique experience, combining its period atmosphere with a diverse gastronomic offer and carefully selected drinks, including exclusive wines and cocktails.
