Pintura de Azulejo// Tile Painting

(EN below) A pintura de azulejo é uma arte com uma grande variedade de técnicas e infinitas possibilidades criativas. Neste conjunto de workshops serão abordadas algumas delas, num ambiente com tempo e espaço para a aprendizagem e experimentação.

Cada workshop será dedicado a uma técnica específica de pintura de azulejo, e durante 3h cada participante poderá praticar a aplicação da mesma, com apoio personalizado e liberdade criativa.

Nota: cada participante poderá pintar 4 azulejos por workshop; os azulejos finais ficam disponíveis para recolha no atelier na semana após o último workshop.

A QUEM SE DESTINA

Iniciantes sem experiência prévia, e também a quem já tem algum conhecimento e pretende desenvolver a sua técnica de pintura.

Tile painting is an art with a great variety of techniques and infinite creative possibilities. In this set of workshops we will address some of them, in an environment with time and space for learning and experimentation.

Each workshop will be dedicated to a specific tile painting technique, and during 3h each participant will be able to practice its application, with personalized support and creative freedom.

Note: each participant can paint 4 tiles per workshop; the final tiles are available for collect at the studio the week after the last workshop.

FOR WHOM IS IT INTENDED

Beginners with no previous experience, and also for those who already have some knowledge and want to develop their painting technique.

WS 1 - PINTURA MANUAL (2 abril)

Técnica de pintura manual, tradicional dos azulejos portugueses do século XVIII, caracterizada pela pintura em azul sobre o azulejo vidrado a branco.

WS 1 - HAND-PAINTING (April 2nd)

Hand-painting technique, traditional in 19th century Portuguese tiles, characterized by painting in blue on the white glazed tile.

WS 2 - PINTURA & DESENHO (16 abril)

Técnica mista, que utiliza o desenho (com minas cerâmicas) e a pintura (com tintas cerâmicas e vidrados), através da sobreposição das duas técnicas na mesma composição ou painel de azulejos.

WS 2 - PAINTING & DRAWING (April 16th)

Mixed technique, which uses drawing (with ceramic mines) and painting (with ceramic paints and glazes), by superposing the two techniques in the same composition or tile panel.

WS 3 - ESTAMPA (11 junho)

Técnica de pintura que utiliza a estampa (“stencil”) como forma de transferir a imagem para o azulejo, e possibilita uma grande variedade de sobreposições, cores e composições.

WS 3 - STENCIL (June 11th)

Painting technique that uses the stencil as a way to transfer the image onto the tile, and that enables a wide range of layering, colors, and compositions.

WS 4 - CORDA SECA (25 junho)

Técnica de decoração desenvolvida na Pérsia, no século XIV, que veio substituir os mosaicos. A aplicação da “corda seca” (uma mistura à base de óleo de linhaça) permite a separação das cores, e desta forma a criação de padrões com um efeito visual semelhante ao mosaico, sem a necessidade do corte dos azulejos.

WS 4 - "DRY ROPE" (June 25th)

A decorative technique developed in Persia in the 14th century that replaced mosaics. The application of "dry rope" (a mixture based on linseed oil) allows the separation of colors, and thus the creation of patterns with a visual effect similar to mosaic, without the need to cut the tiles.
