Guitar Pedal Manufacturing Workshop – Harmonic Percolator - Fuzz Pedal
A 2-session workshop to build your own overdrive pedal and learn how electronics shape music!
Workshop, held in English, composed of 2 sessions
- 11 Apr from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- 18 Apr from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
(This is the 2nd workshop of a series of 3, in which we will develop different Guitar Pedals.
Workshop Overview
Introduction to the theory and hands-on construction of audio effect pedals for electric guitar, bass, and electronic music.
Learning Outcomes
- Basic electronics and signal-processing principles
- Understanding of analogue and digital audio effects
- Practical sound-shaping techniques
Format
- Interactive lectures on electronics and effect design
- Breadboard prototyping and experimentation
- Soldering, assembly, and enclosure of a complete effect pedal
Materials & Equipment
- Individual toolkits with components and high-quality PCBs
- Pre-drilled aluminum enclosures
- Shared soldering and testing equipment
Requirements
- No prior electronics experience required
- Basic understanding of electricity recommended
Target audience: General public, musicians, electronics, and audio enthusiasts.
Registration / Inscrição: 60€ (all tools and materials provided)
Each participant can take their own overdrive pedal with them
Bring: Guitar
Coordinators: Paolo Marcelli
Paolo Marcelli (Italy) is an MSc graduate in Biomedical Engineering from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, currently based in Lisbon as an affiliate researcher at ITI (Interactive Technologies Institute, University of Lisbon), where he’s developing an electroacoustic sound installation titled Meddle. Always interested in music, he discovered a passion for electronics through his MSc, starting to develop skills in music technology. Learning to repair, modify, and produce his own music equipment, he combined a solid theoretical grounding with hands-on knowledge of electronics fabrication, soldering, and PCB manufacturing through a mix of techniques. In his spare time, he volunteers at Prisma Estudios (Lisbon) as a sound technician and event organiser for the weekly acoustic jam sessions.
