BIO:
Isabel Machado
With a degree in Product Design, started working in 2007 as a graphic designer, moving on to Web Design, learning Html&CSS and also falling in love with the Digital Marketing world.
As an Account Manager, worked with online advertising solutions, SEO techniques, community management and social media networks. Later, moved to Lisbon, and followed the dream to work in big corporate environments, starting in the telecommunications (NOS) and in the finance/banking industry (BNP Paribas).
In 2014, looking to understand the UX industry in Portugal & empower women in tech, I've founded the Lisbon community of LadiesThatUX®.
Now I'm embracing a higher challenge on the product development world, on a software company, designing solutions for big enterprises and making sure the customers (and the users!) have the best User Experience possible.
Carolina Gouveia
I’m a Product Designer based in Lisbon, working for Nuxeo on a B2B platform and B2C projects.
With a background in graphic design, motion graphic design and art direction, my interest for technology and psychology made me shift towards Human Computer Interaction, where I now mix design with user experience and research on current projects.
ABSTRACT:
Nuxeo is a small, very tech oriented company, with several years in the market and with a solid platform. While this may sound good news for some, for the Design team is actually a challenge. In this talk we’ll share the reality and effort to create simple solutions, that scale consistently; solutions that have helped us grow slowly but steadily as a Design team, as professionals in a small enterprise and as women in a tech environment.
"Pros and cons working in a small company" - Olga Kuvshinova
BIO:
My name is Olga Kuvshinova. I have been working in tech for about 5 years as a Freelance Dev, Project Manager Assistant and Project Manager. Last 4 years I work at SAU/CAL - on-demand, WordPress and WooCommerce experts dedicated to helping tech-savvy, e-commerce stores thrive in an increasingly digital universe. And we are not only a small team of 12, we are also a fully distributed company scattered around 9 different countries and 3 continents.
ABSTRACT:
While many of us a familiar about benefits that you get working for big established brands and businesses, small companies have their share of goods to offer. Flexibility, accessibility, having your voice valued... what can go wrong? Well many things! lets get through pros and cons of working in a small business and find out how to get 100% out of it.
About Geek Girls Portugal...
The Geek Girls Portugal (G2PT) community was born in 2010 under the name Portugal Girl Geek Dinners and is the first Portuguese community created to raise awareness and bring together women in the technological field through regular meetings. From September 2016, it adopts the new designation Geek Girls Portugal and a new logo to extend and better represent a more comprehensive mission. The new mission focuses on the involvement, inspiration and empowerment of women, through meetings and workshops, awareness-raising sessions in schools to inspire young women, and mentoring to support the professional development and progression of women in the technological area.
