Join the Curious Monkey Film Club for an evening of cinematic charm!
We’re inviting curious and passionate film lovers to join us for a screening of Battleship Potemkin (1925), by Sergei Eisenstein, one of the fundamental landmarks of international cinema.
Keeping with the silent film era, this movie is a masterclass on the power of cinema as a "revolutionary" weapon. A gripping story acclaimed for its pioneering montage and editing, and powerful sequences like "Odessa Stairs".
Whether you're revisiting this timeless gem or watching it for the first time, you're in for a treat.
About the film:
Based on the mutiny of Russian sailors against their tyrannical superiors aboard the battleship Potemkin during the Revolution of 1905, the film was conceived as class-conscious revolutionary propaganda. Once had such power that it was banned in many nations, including its native Soviet Union. Governments actually believed it could incite audiences to action.
