Art Exhibition Vernissage GAMA RAMA
November 7 – December 20
"Through the Glass, All Colors" by Graça Paz and Bruno Grilo
Curated by José Jesus
Description :
This exhibition brings together works by Graça Paz and Bruno Grilo and takes place within the context of the Modernist Weekend.
The work of both artists converses from a shared starting point: light. In particular, sunlight as both a transversal and metaphorical reference. The intense palettes of their works and their formal structures resonate with the modernist aesthetic.
Glass, a concrete element that evokes both fragility and refraction, recalls Philip Johnson’s famous Glass House, where the inhabitant can see everything around them, making the exterior also part of the interior. Here, glass serves as a filter, evoking the artists’ gaze. In their works, this gaze—laden with intent and questioning—disperses the world into shapes and colors.
If modernism translated modern life into new languages, it is within this legacy that Graça Paz and Bruno Grilo find resonance. Their works not only echo modernist boldness but also bring it into the present.
