Cwmpas is a development agency working for positive change. We are a co-operative, and our focus is on building a fairer, greener economy and a more equal society, where people and planet come first.Our work covers two broad areas.We support Wales’ economic growth by providing a comprehensive range of services to co-operatives, mutuals, social enterprises and employee owned businesses. We have been doing so successfully for over thirty years. As well as recognising the value of co-operatives as a business model, we also believe that the principles of co-operation can be applied to the traditional business sector for the benefit of the wider economy. Co-operation can act as a business advantage. As experts in co-operation, we have a role in supporting traditional businesses to gain a co-operative advantage from applying co-operative values and principles to their businesses, for example through consortia working.Cwmpas has considerable experience of delivering innovative programmes that strengthen communities and promote inclusion in a variety of different ways. We helped establish many of Wales’ credit unions and continue to work closely with the credit union movement to promote financial inclusion.
